Calle San
Miguel at the Corridor: Our
store opened in Palm Springs, California, at the Corridor in October,
2002, as "Tesoros del Pueblo Trading Company." Our
partners in this venture were Armida and Eduardo Luna, both having many
years of experience in procuring and manufacturing specialty Mexican
furniture and home furnishings. We will always be grateful for all
the knowledge and expertise the Luna's so generously shared with us.
As the Luna's own business expanded and grew, the partnership ended by
mutual agreement. "Tesoros del Pueblo" became "Corridor
Shops" expanding the product offerings to include Chinese
Antiques, specialty art furniture pieces and a new line of Western-style
furniture. With the completion of the "Calle San
Miguel" at the Corridor, the store was relocated in order to
facilitate the move into that area of the center. "Calle San
Miguel" is a replica of a street in San Miguel Allende; lined
with art, Spanish-style light fixtures, Cantera stone window facing,
specialty glass and custom-made doors and windows in the Spanish-Colonial
tradition. Entering into the "Calle San Miguel" is
like stepping onto a street in San Miguel Allende ... you immediately feel
the richness of art, color and creativity that is the true heritage of
Mexican crafts-people and artisans. Our "procurement-team"
has continually brought us the "best of Mexico" hand-made and
one-of-a-kind specialty pieces and art. We are very fortunate to
have access to some of the most remote villages in rural Mexico where the
art of centuries past is still thriving.
